Rooted in Legacy, Branching Toward Impact Inspired by President Katie Conboy’s call to “Branch Out and Stay Rooted,” Sarah Jannings ’25 has brought the mission to life through her senior comprehensive project: the Dedicated Tree Program at Saint Mary’s College. Blending Communications and Environmental Studies, Sarah traced the roots of our campus’s commemorative trees—interviewing alumnae, faculty, and families to uncover stories of memory, love, and legacy. Supported by the Maryjeanne R. Burke and Daughters SISTAR Award, Sarah’s interdisciplinary research honors Saint Mary’s history while illuminating the role of storytelling in public memory.
