It is also a directory of nearly 11,000 animal shelters and adoption organizations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Organizations maintain their own home pages and pet data. Founded in 1985, Strays & Others, Inc. is a nonprofit, volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) organization which helps pets through a variety of programs which it offers to the community. As one of the oldest animal welfare organizations in Fairfield County, it has provided quality medical care, vaccinations, spaying + neutering + shelter for 1000's of animals rescued from homelessness. The group works intensively w/ each animal, mostly cats + dogs, preparing each one to be adopted successfully into a loving home. Thanks to the careful matching of family + pet, the organization is known to have an exceptionally high permanent adoption rate. Strays & Others has also assisted a host of "other" animals such as wildlife, domestic birds, small animals, + has even rescued three horses over the years!
