Cotting Connection

The experiences of women who have survived breast cancer are at the heart of Cotting Connection. Founder and Executive Director, Diane Cotting is herself a survivor of nine breast cancer surgeries. Cotting Connection developed because of the growing number of cancer survivors who are living limited lives out of fear of post-surgical repercussions. Cancer treatments often leave survivors with physical restrictions from dramatic surgeries that save their lives. Physicians also give survivors instructions that limit their daily activities such as avoid heavy lifting. Evidence also suggests that without the proper training and guidance, a cancer survivor can be serverely injured or disabled by the wrong type of exercise. These limitations do not need to be permanent but they can be without the right information and proper care. It is the goal of Cotting Connection to improve the quality of life of cancer survivors and remove these limitations by providing resources to help them gain access to proper and safe exercise. Historic and current research suggests that exercise improves quality of life, body image and off-treatment fatigue for cancer survivors. Currently there is a missing link between survivors and access to safe exercise. Cotting Connection aims to bridge this gap.
