SOUTHERN OREGON KITE FESTIVAL
To annually produce the Southern Oregon Kite Festival, a weekend of free family-friendly entertainment featuring invited world-renowned kite fliers who choreograph their kite's flight to music, both indoors and out. The Festival is produced by an unpaid group of volunteers and any funds in excess of the current year's expenses are banked for use in the following year's Festival. A corollary to the Southern Oregon Kite Festival is that it is also the largest sales weekend of the summer for Brookings, Oregon retailers and fills all the motels and campgrounds in Southern Curry County, an area marked by traditionally high unemployment.
