Myelin Repair Foundation

Myelin Repair Foundation

The Myelin Repair Foundation's mission is to accelerate the availability of myelin repair treatments to improve the lives of people suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS). With its innovative model for medical research and its narrow focus the Myelin Repair Foundation achieved its goal to have the first Phase I clinical trial for myelin repair by 2014. MRF is now focused solely on identifying myelin repair biomarkers that can be used to speed drug discovery and clinical trials.

ACCELERATE THE NEXT GENERATION OF MS TREATMENTS Why Biomarkers Are Critical to MS Research A biomarker is a biological sign of a normal or abnormal process or of a condition or disease. A biomarker may be used to see how well the body responds to a treatment for a disease or condition. Currently MRI scans are the only biomarker or measurement used in MS research. But MRIs cannot accurately measure if a treatment truly promotes myelin repair which represents the next generation of MS treatments.
