"It has been a challenging week for labor, marked by the dismantling of FMCS, the troubling nomination of Crystal Carey as NLRB General Counsel, and now another transparently egregious attempt to undermine union rights. The performing arts have always been a place for collaboration, creativity, and shared purpose, and at the heart of this is the fundamental right of workers to come together and advocate for fair treatment and mutual respect. Now, the collective bargaining rights of federal workers are under threat by the current administration's alarming efforts to eliminate their fundamental right to unionize and improve working conditions, which are essential for both workers and the critical services they provide to all Americans. This is not just an attack on federal employees but on the broader labor movement and the principles of equity and democracy that we hold dear. For those of us in the performing arts, where unionized workforces provide stability in an otherwise unstable industry, we fully grasp what’s at stake. Silencing federal workers is just another step toward silencing all workers. AGMA stands in total solidarity with all unionized federal workers facing these challenges. We join our sibling unions in doing everything in our power to ensure that the voices of working people, from the federal government to the arts, remain heard, protected, united, and informed." - @NedHanlon, AGMA President (fb)
