Community School Solutions of California, Inc.

The mission of Community School Solutions of California (CSSC) is to: Develop and broker community assets to prevent child abuse and school failure in California. CSSC was founded as a public benefit corporation in 2004 when a local not-for-profit, Communities In Schools of Sacramento, lost fiscal solvency and was unable to continue program operations. This change resulted in two programs, Parent Led Assistance Network (PLAN) and SMART Kids, being transferred from Communities In Schools to the organizational umbrella of CSSC. CSSC is dedicated to improving social and educational support services in low-income schools and communities. All of CSSC's programs are built on the notion that every community possesses the resources needed to support the development of healthy children and families. Unfortunately, many communities lack the capacity and know how to use the community resources in ways that help to solve critical and pressing challenges. Through programs, direct services, and research and evaluation activities, CSSC helps communities learn how they can uniquely respond to the challenges and opportunities existing in their own schools and neighborhoods. As a member of The Child Abuse Prevention Center, CSSC shares and benefits from the resources and talents of the Center's other three agencies: * Prevent Child Abuse California (state chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America) * Child Abuse Prevention Council of Sacramento (focused on Sacramento County, California) * Lift The Children (international nonprofit)
