Happy World Health Day. Today, we recognize the importance of health care access and public health services around the globe. In the United States, the COPD Foundation is extremely concerned with widespread reports of major staff reductions across the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including in the FDA's Center for Tobacco Products and the CDC's Office on Smoking and Health. These resources are critical to addressing the public health crisis of lung disease in the United States, where 16 million Americans have been diagnosed with COPD and millions more remain undiagnosed. Have you heard about the COPD Foundation’s Harmonicas for Health program? Created by respiratory therapists, Harmonicas for Health teaches patients to mimic pursed-lip breathing through harmonica playing. Benefits can include stronger respiratory muscles to aid airflow, reduced shortness of breath, improved sputum mobilization, connection and fun with others We are excited to share this video from the Interior Health Kamloops Community Respiratory.
