We seek to transform the culture of medicine and build a health care system that is affordable, effective, personal and just. A health care think tank offering bold ideas for a just and caring system for health. The mission of the Lown Institute, formerly the Lown Cardiovascular Research Foundation, is to lead the movement toward a just and caring system for health. We conduct research, convene experts, and spark public debate to bridge the gap between existing public policy solutions and the care that Americans want and need. Our work focuses on issues of medical overuse and underuse, health equity, profit-driven medicine, and cost of care.
