MERIP's Winter 2024 issue, Resistance-The Axis and Beyond, includes a short history of Ansar Allah (the Houthis) by Helen Lackner that provides useful background to the current US attacks on Yemen. Lackner explains that, “Within Yemen, their prestige has risen dramatically as the overwhelming majority of Yemenis, whether under IRG or Houthi rule, are sympathetic to Palestinians, horrified by the ongoing genocide and willing to tolerate the consequences of this support, at least up to now.” Read it on our website: merip.org.
