Community watershed restoration since 1983 Growing Native Plants for Resilient Mattole Ecosystems Improving Forest Health While Protecting Homes from Fires Building Resilience and Love for Place Field Data Collection and Mapping Latest News and Events 2025 Nicks Interns Applications are Now Open 2024 Burn Review MRC Annual Meeting Our Mission The objectives and purpose of the Mattole Restoration Council are the restoration of natural systems in the Mattole River Watershed and their maintenance at sustainable levels of health and productivity especially in regards to forests fisheries soil and other plant and animal communities. The Mattole Restoration Council will pursue this goal by What We Do The Mattole Restoration Council realizes its vision through four ongoing programs that undertake numerous projects throughout the Mattole River watershed Ecosystem Restoration Program The goal of the Ecosystem Restoration Program is to promote healthy and productive native ecosystems including grasslands oak woodlands riparian corridors wetlands and forests. Education and Outreach Through Education and Outreach Program the MRC is able to improve understanding of ecology restoration and stewardship among youth community members and the wider public. Watershed Information Systems The goal of the Watershed Information Systems program is to collect archive analyze and disseminate restoration information to learn about the ecological systems of the watershed and improve restoration and stewardship efforts in the Mattole watershed.
