Home - City of Manassas Tourism One of the best parts of visiting Manassas is exploring the Citys architecture reflecting its 19thcentury heritage. During the Civil War two opposing presidents Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln visited Liberia while meeting with their generals when it served as headquarters in 1861 for Confederates and in 1862 for the Union. In 1972 Stephen Stills of Crosby Stills Nash Young helped form the band Manassas. As a Civil War buff Stills orchestrated this photo shoot at the historic Manassas train depot for the album cover of the same name.
