Happy #worldturtleday! We have been celebrating at Lucasville Pond this morning by reintroducing turtles to their new and improved pond. Over 1,100 turtles were removed in 2023 ahead of the Lucasville Pond stormwater improvement project. A last turtle release is planned for 12:30 PM and is being coordinated by Dr. Todd Rimkus, a Marymount University biology professor. The pond is on the corner of Hastings Drive and Lucasville Road. Let summer begin! It is looking like a great weekend for the Stonewall Park Pool opening this Saturday. This weekend (May 24–26) the pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. • From May 31 through June 15, the pool will be open weekends only from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. • From June 16 to August 17 the pool will be open daily: Friday and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. #summerinmanassas (fb)

One of the best parts of visiting Manassas is exploring the Citys architecture reflecting its 19thcentury heritage. During the Civil War two opposing presidents Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln visited Liberia while meeting with their generals when it served as headquarters in 1861 for Confederates and in 1862 for the Union. In 1972 Stephen Stills of Crosby Stills Nash Young helped form the band Manassas. As a Civil War buff Stills orchestrated this photo shoot at the historic Manassas train depot for the album cover of the same name.
