Flying Crown Land Group
Overview
Flying Crown Land Group (FCLG) is a nonprofit organization established in 2007 and based in Delaware, authorized to operate in several other states. Recognized as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, FCLG aims to alleviate governmental burdens, particularly concerning the maintenance, expansion, development, and management of government-owned aviation properties.
Mission Statement
The organization's mission is to create economic development opportunities for airports and to assist in the preservation of aviation history. FCLG functions as a social enterprise, combining business practices with a commitment to social good.
Charitable Status
FCLG received its charitable status from the Internal Revenue Service in February 2013 following a thorough review process. This status enables the organization to seek donations and grants to support its activities, and it strives for transparency with stakeholders regarding its mission and financial status.
History
Originally formed as a charitable version of a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), known as a REMIC, Flying Crown Land Group embarked on projects that other organizations were reluctant to undertake. At its peak, FCLG managed over half a million square feet of mixed-use aviation space across the United States. However, following the financial crisis that hit in 2008, the organization pivoted its strategy away from offering mortgage-backed securities to fund aviation improvements. In 2013, FCLG transitioned into a social enterprise charitable entity, focusing on developing and preserving aviation properties nationwide.

The board of directors guiding FCLG includes:
- Stephen Birch, Managing Director
- Alex Rankin, Director
- Jason Hutton, Director
