Last week, our long-time partner The Children's Table shared some of the onions and carrots they received. We were able to share these out to over a dozen of Waste Not Florida's other food distribution partners. It is such a joy to get support from our partners in the fight to end hunger. Waste Not Florida got a surprise visit yesterday from it's amazing founder...Deb Smyers!!! What started at Morrison's as an idea to get the abundance of leftover food to hungry people is now a thriving Clay County nonprofit serving 14 counties! Her first food rescue was from Publix in Argyle who continues to support our mission 35 years later! Deb started "connecting the dots" as she says and the rest is history! She got to see the mission she launched in 1990 in action, meeting volunteers Cara and John and a food distribution partner.
