Women in Sports and Events Houston Inc.

Women in Sports and Events Houston Inc., commonly referred to as WISE Houston, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women in the sports industry. It is an affiliate chapter of the national organization Women in Sports and Events (WISE), which was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in New York City.

Mission and Objectives

The mission of WISE Houston is to enhance the success and growth of women in the business of sports by providing tools, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. The organization seeks to be a definitive source for businesswomen in the sports industry, supporting them through all stages of their careers, from entry-level to executive positions.

Activities and Programs

WISE Houston offers various programs to support its members, including mentorship initiatives and special networking events. One of its key programs is the WISE Within mentoring program, which provides members with the opportunity to engage in one-to-one, goal-focused mentoring relationships, accelerating their professional development.

Governance and Structure

WISE Houston is governed by a local Board of Directors, who are volunteers. The chapter operates under a licensing agreement with WISE National, which sets the overarching strategy and provides resources to all chapters. WISE Houston also coordinates with other WISE chapters across North America to deliver national initiatives like the WISE Within Speed Mentoring Roundtable.

History

WISE Houston was established in Texas and gained tax-exempt status in February 2016. It is part of a broader network of WISE chapters across the United States and Canada.
