After more than 50 years, the medical community is moving towards a new TBI classification system. A coalition of experts has proposed a new way to evaluate TBI patients that is expected to lead to more accurate diagnoses and more appropriate treatment plans. The new classification system, called CBI-M, expands the assessment beyond immediate clinical symptoms, with new assessment criteria including biomarkers, CT and MRI scans, and additional factors.
