More than 9,000 property deeds in Washtenaw County once included racially restrictive covenants โ legal clauses that barred Black families and others from certain neighborhoods. This hidden history shaped the communities we live in today. Now, together with our partners at FutureRoot and Justice InDeed, we are helping to bring these stories to light.
