University of Michigan Health-Sparrow is changing the game for pediatric care in Mid-Michigan. Starting this month, the UM Health-Sparrow Children’s Center will transition to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at UM Health-Sparrow. “This new identity highlights UM Health-Sparrow’s strong connection to the state’s top-ranked children’s hospital, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, and reflects our commitment to providing world-class pediatric care in Mid-Michigan,” said Steven Martin, M.D., medical co-director, UM Health-Sparrow Children’s Center. UM Health-Sparrow is proud to offer Mid-Michigan’s only Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (RNICU), supported by MSU Health Care neonatologists, a dedicated 12-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with 24/7 pediatric intensivist coverage, a full-service Pediatric Emergency Department, designed and staffed exclusively for children. As part of our recent Patient Experience Week, the Sparrow Office of Patient Experience held a ceremony honoring team members whose impacts on the patient are unsung. Those team members are not necessarily clinical or patient-facing, yet go above and beyond for our community and team members. Departments recognized included Facilities Engineering, Visitor Management, Insurance Verification, Environmental Services, Transport and Radiology. Their stories reflect an unswerving commitment to the needs of our patients and to changing their lives for the better. Awardees received a Certificate of Commendation and the gratitude of the organization. While 8 team members were selected on the basis of their contributions, over 250 team members were nominated by their peers and leaders. Of those nominees, 50 were randomly selected for gift card awards.
