Colonial Figure Skating Club Inc

Overview

Colonial Figure Skating Club Inc is a nonprofit organization focused on promoting figure skating in the United States. It is categorized under the Recreation, Sports, Leisure, Athletics sector, specifically winter sports involving snow and ice[2]. The organization supports various aspects of figure skating, including coaching and training programs.

Financial Operations

The club generates its primary revenue from program services, which account for a significant portion of its total revenue. Contributions also play a role but represent a smaller percentage. In recent years, the club has reported revenues with a substantial portion coming from program services—about 94.8%—and the remainder from contributions and investment income[2].

The organization's expenses are primarily allocated to salaries and wages for its staff, reflecting its investment in coaching and training resources. Notably, it does not incur executive compensation or professional fundraising fees[2].

Activities and Impact

Colonial Figure Skating Club offers a wide range of programs and coaching services. It employs a team of highly experienced and professional coaches who are members of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and have coached skaters to regional, national, and international medal levels. The club provides training in free skating, moves in the field, dance, pairs, off-ice training, ballet, modern dance, and choreography[1].

The club's facilities support a comprehensive approach to figure skating development, providing multiple ice surfaces, a weight room, ballet studio, and administrative offices. This setup allows for well-rounded training that includes both on-ice and off-ice components[1].

Tax Status

Colonial Figure Skating Club Inc is a tax-exempt organization, meaning donations to it are tax deductible[2]. This status reflects its role in fostering sports competition and education without providing athletic facilities or equipment directly.

Governance

The organization is governed by a board of directors, none of whom receive compensation for their services. This governance structure ensures that the club is managed for the benefit of its members and the broader figure skating community[2].
