Today is both Juneteenth AND World Sickle Cell Day โค๏ธ๐ฉธ๐ง We honor the legacy of Black freedom and resilience while standing in solidarity with those living with sickle cell diseaseโmost of whom come from the very communities still fighting for health equity, recognition, and compassionate care. Itโs no coincidence that June 19th, the day enslaved Black Americans in Texas finally learned of their freedom, is also the day the UK declared World Sickle Cell Day. Both dates reflect delayed justice, systemic neglect, and the urgent need to center marginalized voices in healthcare.
