Philippine-Asian Missions Inc.
Overview

Philippine-Asian Missions Inc. (PAMI) is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Sorsogon province of the Philippines. Founded in December 1981, PAMI operates as part of the native missionary movement, focusing on reaching unreached communities and supporting the less fortunate.

Mission and Activities

PAMI's primary mission is to bring hope to people through the Gospel. The organization achieves this through several key activities:

  • Church Planting: Trained national pastors and missionaries pioneer into unchurched communities, teaching God's word and establishing local churches.
  • Bible Study Outreaches: Regular Bible studies are conducted in homes, allowing local residents to learn about Christ and deepen their faith.
  • Children's Ministry: This aspect includes feeding programs and Bible teachings aimed at reaching families through the children in the community.
  • Christian Radio: PAMI uses radio as a medium to spread the Gospel to wider audiences.
  • Bible School: The Emmaus Bible Institute in Sorsogon trains local believers to become full-time pastors and missionaries, equipping them to serve in their communities.
Leadership and History

Philippine-Asian Missions Inc. was started by Norval and Ardelle Thorud in 1981. Later, other family members, including Izzy and Howie Allen, joined the board. The current president of the U.S. PAMI board, Michael Thorud, has been involved with the organization since 1984 and continues to lead it on a part-time volunteer basis. Michael Thorud's involvement was influenced by his attendance at the Urbana Missions Conference, where he felt a call to participate in missions.

Financial Overview

PAMI operates with a modest budget, focusing on maximizing the impact of donated funds. Financial records indicate variability in revenue over the years, with recent figures showing revenues around $87,300 and expenses of approximately $81,900. The organization maintains significant assets, currently valued at about $51,500, without any liabilities reported.

Impact and Participation

PAMI encourages participation from supporters worldwide, inviting them to join their "family" through prayer, donations, or sharing talents and time. The organization emphasizes that all administrative costs are covered separately, ensuring that 100% of donations go directly to mission work. This model allows PAMI to effectively utilize resources for its core mission activities in the Philippines.
