5 Things Horse Rescues Need Donated that are Not Money: 1. Time Your free time to walk, groom, lunge, muck stalls and paddocks, help build or fix buildings, help trim or rasp feet(if you are very knowledgeable) and just be there for these horse give love and affection to the animals. 2. Feed and Hay, Let big feed stores know that if they have expired shelf dated feed they can donate it to a near by rescue. Do not assume feed stores know that there are rescues in the area. The feed may not be allowed to sell in stores anymore but is still good enough to feed to horses who often need lots of extra groceries. Hay can be donated if you need to get rid of some excess or do not end up using all your tonnage. Granted that it is not full of mold or mold dust that causes upper and lower respiratory infections. 3. First aid supplies If you have vet wrap, cotton bandages, polo wraps, dewormer, wound dressings, blueing, carona and wound salves ect. 4. Riders Qualified riders that meet the approval for handling and horsemanship of the rescuers are needed to keep horses riding in shape. Riders should be very confident, firm and respectuful and very experienced in proper horsemanship in and out of the saddle. 5. Faith In what we do and why we do it. Spread the knowledge of horses who are up for adoption to people you know are responsible owners and are looking to get a new horse. Be honest but spread the word! Rescues are as good at loving as any horse! (fb)
