Resource Redistribution Ministry
The Resource Redistribution Ministry (RRM) is a U.S. nonprofit organization officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) entity since December 2019. Its mission is to extend God's love by redistributing surplus food to those in need, primarily in the Mid-South area.
Mission and Operations
RRM focuses on addressing food insecurity by collecting surplus groceries from various sources. These include retail stores like Costco, Trader Joe's, and local markets. The collected groceries are then delivered to a network of food pantries, soup kitchens, and senior living facilities across Shelby, Fayette, and DeSoto Counties.
In recent years, RRM has significantly increased its operations, demonstrating its commitment to serving the community. For example, in 2022, it successfully delivered over 743,000 pounds of groceries to those in need.
Goals and Impact
The ministry aims to address the issue of food poverty by ensuring that surplus food is redirected to where it is most needed. By doing so, RRM not only helps individuals in need but also reduces food waste in the community. Its efforts contribute to enriching communities and supporting vulnerable populations, such as seniors and those relying on food assistance programs.
Community Engagement
RRM engages with local churches and volunteers to carry out its operations. This collaborative approach allows for a broader reach and fosters a sense of community involvement in addressing food insecurity.
Legal Status
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Resource Redistribution Ministry operates under the EIN number 83-2762480. This status allows donors to contribute tax-deductible funds to support the organization's mission.
