Home - Landmarks of Dekalb County, Alabama Landmarks of Dekalb County Alabama Saving Our History For Future Generations This Month in Alabama History About Landmarks of DeKalb County Alabama Landmarks of DeKalb County Inc. was organized as a 501c3 nonprofit corporation on August 4 1969 for the purpose of increasing and sharing knowledge of historical information and to encourage preservation of structures of historical significance in the Dekalb Country area. From the organizations firs achievementthe purchase and restoration of the historic Opera House in downtown Fort Payneto the present Landmarks has served as a major instrument for preserving the history of DeKalb Countys people and places.
