Rights & Clearances for Creative Projects – Practical Considerations for Creatives Join OVLA volunteer attorneys Ryan Mauck and Chris Weathers for an engaging exploration into the realm of Rights and Clearances for creative projects across various mediums, including fine art, photography, media, film, television, video games, etc. This workshop delves into the essentials for creatives looking to use anything belonging to someone else in their projects. We’ll cover key considerations for licensing and using third-party artworks, using individuals’ names, images, and likenesses, working with trademarks and logos, the use of generative artificial intelligence, and avoiding defamation in your work. Ryan and Chris will share real-world examples of challenges faced in creative projects and discuss strategies for prevention. This remote workshop will also offer plenty of time for questions and answers. Visit https://www.oregonvla.org/event-calendar/rights-and-clearances to sign up and for more details. 🎨💻🎨💻🎨💻🎨💻🎨💻🎨💻🎨💻 #oregonvolunteerlawyersforthearts #olva #continuingeducation #artseducation#portlandoregon (fb)

In Beaverton, a beautiful scrubjay is looking for a song partner as artist David Rice completes his latest mural, Bird Song, in downtown Portland. Spanning the entire side of a massive parking garage at the new Modera Beaverton Apartments, this brilliantly detailed mural features two native species: a scrubjay and a meadowlark. The two birds communicate with one another through a layered environment of shapes. The combination of organic and geometric elements represents a balance between the natural and digital world, striving to find a balance and harmony between them. When complete, Bird Song will be the largest mural in Beaverton and is destined to be a prominent city feature for years to come! Thank you to the folks at Mill Creek, the City of Beaverton, and, of course, the wonderfully talented David Rice for creating this new landmark for the whole community to enjoy. 🐦🎼🌼🐦🎼🌼🐦🎼🌼🐦🎼🌼🐦🎼🌼 @moderabeaverton #davidrice pdxstreetart #portlandstreetart #pdxart #portlandart #portlandoregon #pdxmurals #portlandmurals #commission#cityofbeaverton#moderabeaverton (fb)
