Founded in Thomasville, North Carolina, Ruff Love provides a safe haven for dogs in need, leveraging a network of foster homes and volunteers to care for animals until they can be adopted into permanent homes.

History

Ruff Love was established by Sue Rogers in response to the increasing numbers of abandoned dogs in the Randolph and Davidson County areas. Over the years, the organization has grown significantly, establishing a strong community presence and a dedicated volunteer network that contributes to its mission of rescuing and rehoming dogs.

Mission and Vision

Ruff Love's mission is to rescue, care for, and provide necessary medical treatment for abused and homeless animals, ultimately finding them loving forever homes. The organization operates under a no-kill policy, ensuring that all dogs receive the care they need for as long as it takes to find them permanent placements.

Programs and Services

  • Rescue: Ruff Love focuses on rescuing dogs from dire situations, including those facing euthanasia in shelters, and provides them with medical and behavioral care.
  • Foster Care: All dogs in Ruff Love’s program are placed in private foster homes where they receive individualized attention and care while awaiting adoption.
  • Adoption: The organization has a thorough adoption process that includes application reviews, home checks, and support to ensure a good match between dogs and their new families.

Community Involvement

Ruff Love relies heavily on community support through donations and fundraising initiatives. The organization engages the public by organizing events and activities that promote pet adoption and responsible pet ownership. Volunteers play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations, helping with everything from caring for the dogs to organizing events.

Impact

Since its inception, Ruff Love has successfully facilitated the adoption of hundreds of dogs, helping to transform the lives of both the animals and their new families. The organization is committed to public education about the importance of animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
