⚠️ Towpath Trail Advisory May 6, 2025: The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail between Tinkers Creek Aqueduct and Fitzwater Road in Valley View is closed due to active erosion impacting the trail. The closure is necessary for public safety while Cuyahoga Valley National Park Service and Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works stabilize the area. The closure also impacts the Cuyahoga River Water Trail, which uses the Towpath Trail as a portage around the section of river closed to paddling due to Pleasant Valley Road bridge construction. In addition, it impacts Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad’s Explorer program. This shuttle service for hikers and bicyclists starts on May 10 and will operate between Brecksville and Akron Northside stations during the closure. The trail will be fully closed during this time. It will not reopen during evenings and weekends. No detour is available. (fb)
