Today, Teleperformance workers held a national day of action calling on the company to respect the right of its American workers to join unions, as the company has committed to globally. They are being denied the same union rights as Teleperformance workers in other countries. Workers are organizing with CWA and OPEIU - Office and Professional Employees International Union! Workers at a dozen sites across California, Florida, Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, Nevada, Utah, Washington, and Puerto Rico joined together to demand better working conditions and a union voice at work. These workers report unsustainable working conditions & pay that can’t support their families. To make ends meet while working these challenging and demanding jobs, workers report taking on 2nd jobs and even qualifying for Medicaid for their children. Shout out to CWA Locals 9511, 3104, 3181, 7603, 3821, 9413, 9413, 7765 & 7704 for your solidarity! (fb)

CWA Local 1101 member Pat Hunt and thousands of others depend on the World Trade Center Health Program, which was put in place to help responders and survivors with 9/11-related health conditions. 9/11 responders were exposed to toxins that leave them at risk for cancers, respiratory diseases, and other health problems. Repeated threats of funding cuts at the World Trade Center Health Program and lack of transparency around what's happening have caused tremendous uncertainty and undue stress for people in the program. Staffing cuts have led to disruptions, including cancer treatment being denied, enrollments for hundreds of 9/11 responders and survivors halted, and the processing of nearly 1,200 written treatment approvals stopped. 9/11 responders like Pat deserve so much better.
