We are at the peak of the whitetail fawning season. Most hunters know to leave fawns alone, but many people do not. Does leave their fawns in places they consider safe - sometimes for several hours - and sometimes in unlikely places such as flower beds and next to structures. They know where they left their fawns and they can locate them through vocalization as well. You should not assume a fawn has been abandoned by its mother and try to help it. Instead, you will be doing the very opposite. If you encounter a fawn in the woods or on your property, keep a safe distance so as not to startle it.
