This week, individuals in our Building Employment Solutions Together (B.E.S.T.) program began working at EatAugies in Alexandria, Virginia, gaining hands-on experience in a professional setting. Through this new partnership, B.E.S.T. program participants will assist with hospitality operations three times a week, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for guests. Their responsibilities include maintaining bar tops, tables, chairs, and windows, as well as upholding the appearance of outdoor spaces. Beyond workplace tasks, this partnership supports participants in meeting their individualized service plan goals, including exposure to different employers, exploring job opportunities, and strengthening fine motor, socialization, and communication skills. We enjoyed meeting community members of all ages, making bracelets, and sharing samples of our delicious popcorn at the Fairfax County Park Authority Friends of Frying Pan Farm Park Spring Farm Day! It was a beautiful day and we thank everyone who also visited our Blossom Cafe at Ellmore Farmhouse to purchase salads, sandwiches, cold drinks, and sweet treats. Be sure to stop by Ellmore Farmhouse when you’re at the park to take a break, grab a bite, and visit our Bloom Gift Shop where you’ll find unique hand-crafted items including greeting cards, soaps, candles, and more.
