As #AAPIHeritageMonth comes to a close, pro-housing advocates must reflect on the unique challenges our AAPI community members and neighbors are facing. This article from the National League of Cities is an EXCELLENT read for anyone interested in identifying the barriers to housing for AAPI folks and finding some steps to take action. Factors like the model minority myth and a lack of in-depth data often perpetuate the idea that Asian and Pacific Islander families don't need support in finding affordable homes. If we want to create abundant housing for ALL of us, we must look closer at our communities to see what support folks need, such as a lack of language-accessible resources for families, and respond accordingly as we advocate for more homes for more neighbors!
