In partnership with Chicago State University (CSU), Alma Advisory Group, and Academy for Local Leadership, we were proud to bring CPS leaders, principals, APs, students, and community members together at CSU on Saturday to help shape the leadership profile for the next CPS CEO. This event was one of many listening sessions hosted by the Chicago Board of Education to ensure educators, principals, and higher education leaders are actively engaged in defining the qualities and priorities of the district’s next leader. Attendees heard from Board Members Dr. Che Rhymefest Smith and Therese Boyle, as well as a panel of CPS students. Participants then joined small groups to share their input on what the next CEO should prioritize, the strengths already present in our schools, and the leadership qualities needed to guide CPS forward. These sessions aim to ensure that both academic and practitioner expertise is reflected throughout the hiring process and to strengthen partnerships between CPS and postsecondary institutions through open, transparent engagement.
