🚨 Dumped for Walking Through a Yard… and Saved Just in Time 🖤🙏 In 2021, Rescue Kitties of Hawai‘i held a mass trapping event in Kalihi after kind neighbors reached out asking for help. We successfully TNR’d dozens of cats — fixing them, microchipping them, and returning them to their neighborhood, where they were cared for and fed by the community 🏘️🐾. Fast forward four years: one of those cats — a shy black boy 🐈‍⬛ — wandered through the yard of a woman who didn’t want him there. She trapped him, brought him to the Hawaiian Humane Society, and demanded he be euthanized. Her only reason? She didn’t want him walking through her property. 😔💔 Thankfully, his microchip saved his life. HHS contacted us right away, and we immediately told them not to return him to that dangerous situation. One of our team members, Bret, rushed over to pick him up and bring him into our foster program 🐾💕 At first, he was completely shut down — traumatized, terrified, and withdrawn. But we refused to give up on him. And then… magic. Just a few days in a safe, loving foster home, and this scared boy blossomed into a purring, affectionate lap cat. He just needed to feel safe. 🥹✨ Thanks to a lifesaving grant from 🌸 Flower Feline Sanctuary 🌸, we were able to cover his vetting, foster care, and even his flight to Boston, where he’s already settling into a loving forever home. ✈️🏡 We named him Jericho — a reminder of how far he’s come, and how much love he has to give.
