PorchLight A Family Justice Center

PorchLight A Family Justice Center is a non-profit organization in the United States, specifically designed to provide comprehensive support services to survivors of various forms of abuse. The organization is located in Jefferson County, Colorado, and serves both Jefferson County and Gilpin County.

Mission and Services

The mission of PorchLight is to bring together essential services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, abuse of at-risk individuals, elder abuse, and human trafficking. It aims to create a positive pathway forward for these survivors and to foster health and public safety.

PorchLight offers a wide range of services, including:

• Legal Services: Assistance with orders of protection, court/legal lay assistance, attorney referrals, and court accompaniment/advocacy.
• Counseling and Support Groups: Peer support groups, sexual violence support groups, and counseling for friends and family.
• Emergency Services: Danger/lethality assessments, crisis intervention services, case management, safety planning, and emergency local transportation.
• Children's Services: Daycare facilities, childcare during support groups, child abuse services, safety planning for children, and art/music therapy.
• Onsite Medical and Mental Health Services: Medical accompaniment, onsite pediatric forensic nurse exams, and parenting skills training.

Operations

PorchLight functions as a one-stop service center, housing key local government agencies, law enforcement, community organizations, social service providers, and the District Attorney's offices. This integrated approach helps reduce the number of times victims have to retell their stories and improves accessibility to resources, making it easier for survivors to seek help.

Establishment and Accreditation

PorchLight A Family Justice Center was established in 2019. It is affiliated with the Alliance for Hope, a network of family justice centers worldwide.

Volunteer Engagement

The organization actively seeks community support through volunteerism. Available volunteer positions include guest care, children's room services, administrative duties, and special projects.
