On May 1, over 300 changemakers came together at Gathering for Good to support our mission to break economic barriers and build opportunity for all. Thanks to the generosity of so many, we raised over $140,000! At this amazing event, we heard from Daniela, an aspiring nurse whose life changed thanks to her courage, perseverance, and support from United Way. “With the guidance of United Way, I’ve learned to advocate for myself, and I have found ways to be successful despite the adversity I have faced. Struggle is universal for everyone. Just because someone carries their pain or struggle well doesn’t mean it’s not heavy. 👩‍🍼Child care accessibility and affordability is out of reach for thousands of Central Texans. One way to bring about change? Participate in Community Change Action's annual Day Without Child Care on May 12 📢! Day Without Child Care serves as a call to action to address child care affordability, accessibility, and worker well-being. This year on May 12, child care providers, parents, and families are urged to close their doors, call in sick, or close down early. Ways you can participate: ➡️Join the rally at the Texas State Capitol from 10 - 11:15 am for chants and music, storytelling, and advocacy. ➡️ Join the “Family Joy & Liberation Pop-Up” from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm at Waterloo Greenway Park for kid-friendly art stations, storytime, postcard writing, and space for healing, joy, and community.
