Our member Sam Conley, RN at Harborview Medical Center and member of the 1199NW Executive Board, joined state officials at Harborview today to speak out against the proposed bill to gut Medicaid, impacting nearly 2 million WA residents. Shame on you US Rep. Dan Newhouse who voted yes on the bill in the House, where it passed 215-214. The 4th Congressional District in Central Washington has over 300,000 constituents on Medicaid - this repulsive act of greed will greatly impact access to care in the region and across our state, while making the rich richer and funding more ICE raids. We need to take action NOW: call your US Senators today and urge them to defend Medicaid and vote this bill down in the Senate. (fb)
