🎶 Meet the coolest 2nd graders in town! 🎶 These Ramsay Elementary students just wrapped up Time Travel Through the Ukulele — a 10-week after-school journey through music, language, and creativity. Led by teaching artist Glenda Bates, students learned ukulele fundamentals, played songs in English and Spanish, and explored songwriting and collaboration. Their adventure culminated in a joyful final performance (with special Sound Impact guests!) for the Alexandria community. A womenled organization Sound Impact takes music outside of the concert hall and into schools juvenile detention centers and international destinations to connect engage and empower youth through the power of music. 2024 2025 season highlights Sponsored in part by Potter Violins and the Virginia Commission for the Arts Juvenile Detention Centers Educational Residencies performances for incarcerated youth International Bringing free concerts masterclasses teacher training and instrument donations to students in Latin America.
