Path Through History Weekend Walkin' History! Seneca Lake - Superhighway Join us a 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14th. The walk begins at the Watkins Glen Clute Park Kayak Launch and will finish at the Seneca Harbor Pier. The walk will last just over an hour. Learn about Seneca Lake's history as a Haudenosaunee highway. The important role is played in the developement of the Erie Canal System. Learn how Seneca Lake is connected to the Cayuga-Seneca Canal and the Chemung Canal. This event is FREE and open to everyone. The “200 Years: Seneca Lake and the Erie Canal Waterways” exhibition will be open to the public until October 31, 2025. Artifacts, maps, videos, and content weave a beautiful and thrilling history of our connection to water, commerce, and tourism. Concurrently on display is “Hidden Perspectives: Women and the Erie Canal,” a traveling exhibition from the Erie Canal Museum. In June, “Enchanting Waters,” a poster exhibition from the New York Museum, will arrive at the Brick Tavern Museum and be on display until July 31, 2025. Finally, “High Hopes: The Erie Canal and the Underground Railroad” arrives from the Erie Canal Museum in August and will remain on display until November 1, 2025. To go hand in hand with the exhibit, we have scheduled two Walkin’ History! tours for the Waterfront Festival Saturday, June 14th. “Seneca Lake: Transportation Super Highway” will begin at Kayak Beach and makes it way to Seneca Harbor Park.
