The Charlton School is a nonprofit mental health care center for young women with an on-site NYS approved 853 high school. The Charlton School is a small, clinically focused, therapeutic learning community for young women. Our mission is to provide effective, individualized, therapeutic, residential, education and aftercare services to young women and their families to prepare them for success in family, community and school. Charlton School is a small, 41 student, not-for-profit residential treatment center and state approved 853 special education school for young women ages 13-18 years old. Our educational and treatment teams consist of a psychiatrist, nurses, therapists, teachers, school psychologist, Equine Therapist and various other staff with educations in psychology, social work or related fields.

This may be due to struggles with anxiety depression trauma identity selfinjurious behaviors bipolar disorder school refusal feeling guarded and other mental health challenges. Here students have researchbased support in a peaceful environment. Our goal is to bolster their intellectual social and emotional wellbeing in a place where they feel seen and heard.
