The leading India-focused nonprofits represented on IPA's board often get involved in educating the public in ways that strengthen Indo-American relations. One shining example was an event that Agastya International Foundation and Indiaspora hosted recently at Stanford University to honor a great Indian mathematician. Learn about it below in the write up from Indiaspora's always excellent newsletter: Honoring an Indian Mathematical Legend at Stanford University On May 28, Indiaspora, in collaboration with Agastya International Foundation and the Stanford Department of Mathematics, hosted a private reception to unveil a bust of legendary Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The ceremony, held at Sloan Math Corner, marked a historic tribute to Ramanujan’s extraordinary contributions to mathematics and the spirit of discovery he continues to inspire. The bust, generously donated by Agastya, will now reside permanently in the Stanford Math Department. Indiaspora Founder and Chairman, MR Rangaswami, shared a heartfelt personal reflection at the unveiling—connecting Ramanujan’s journey from Cambridge, England to Cambridge, Massachusetts, and now to Stanford, California. He recalled how his grandfather lived where Ramanujan once studied, and how his own mother knew Ramanujan’s wife. MR also expressed deep gratitude to Ramji Raghavan of Agastya, Raju Reddy for donating the bust, Jeena Raghavan for her painting, and the Stanford faculty and organizers who helped bring the event to life. Later that evening, over 60 Stanford students from diverse backgrounds gathered for a special screening of 'The Man Who Knew Infinity', the biographical film starring Dev Patel. The screening celebrated Ramanujan’s life and legacy through the lens of cinema and storytelling. This inspiring tribute was proudly co-hosted by the Stanford India Policy and Economics Club (SIPEC), Indiaspora, and the Agastya International Foundation. Indiaspora was proudly represented at the event by Manasi Dharne, Senior Director of Development.
