This Bicycle Day, we’re shining a spotlight on Jana. 🚲💙 Jana is diagnosed with juvenile metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD), a rare and progressive genetic disease that affects her strength, mobility, fine motor skills, and communication. During treatment, she benefited from riding a Rifton bike, and it quickly became an activity she loved. We were honored to help her family purchase one for use at home. They’ve shared that the bike has helped Jana move more freely, play with her brother and friends, and reclaim a piece of her childhood. As her family put it: “The smile that she gets when she is on her bike is priceless.” We couldn’t agree more. #BicycleDay #Tricycles #AdaptedTricycle #Mobility #Childhood #Nonprofit #GreaterPhiladelphia #RareDisease #MetachromaticLeukodystrophyDisease (fb)

In 2024, 82% of the families we served were ALICE families—Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed. These families earn too much to qualify for government assistance, but not enough to afford the basic cost of living. Add a sick or medically complex child to the mix, and their already fragile financial situation can quickly become a crisis—making our support within this community all the more imperative. 🔗Read more in our latest Impact Report: https://fredsfootsteps.org/2024-impact-report/ #ALICEFamilies #ALICE #MedicallyComplexChildren (fb)
