💔 Layla Is Still Waiting There’s a quiet kind of grief in watching a dog wait day after day for someone who never comes. Layla has been with us for months now—long enough that the staff know every sigh she lets out when the shelter goes quiet at night. She’s 7 years old, a senior by large dog standards, but her heart still lights up when she sees her favorite people. She hasn’t given up- Not yet. Layla once had a home. A family. But when divorce shattered the only life she knew, Layla lost everything—her people, her routines, her warm couch, her sense of security. And like many dogs with big feelings and nowhere to place them, she’s struggled to adjust to shelter life. She’s not a dog for just anyone. Layla doesn’t like other animals, and she’s not a fan of kids. She wants to be someone’s one and only—and we know that makes her a hard fit for many homes. But it also makes her loyal beyond words to the person she chooses. When she trusts you, she loves with her whole being. Lately, we’ve discovered Layla may be facing some liver-related health issues. We’re still exploring her care plan, but she is currently on supplements to keep her liver as strong and healthy as possible. (We are able to provide a supply of those to her adopter as well.) She will require routine bloodwork to monitor her levels, and later in life she may require specialized food. What we do know is that she deserves a calm, loving home to spend her golden years—somewhere she can finally rest her head without fear of being left again. Layla doesn’t need much. Just a soft spot to curl up. A quiet home. A person who won’t see her age or her quirks as deal-breakers, but as parts of a soul who has lost more than most dogs ever do—and who still, somehow, waits by the door, hoping you might come for her. Please consider giving Layla the peace she’s been longing for. She’s not just looking for a home. She’s looking for a place to belong, for good. Layla has been vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and tested negative for heartworm. We are open for adoptions everyday from 12:00 PM- 4:00 PM aside from Mondays and Wednesdays. We are located at 8790 Guilford Rd Seville, OH 44273. (fb)

This year the Medina County SPCA proudly celebrates 40 years of serving our community 19852025 and making a difference in the lives of animals in need. Since 1985 weve been dedicated to providing a safe haven for abused neglected and homeless animals finding loving homes and promoting humane treatment. We couldnt have made it this far without the incredible support of our volunteers donors and adopters. Thank you for being part of our journey.
