Our fundamental mission is to support refuge activities that protect and preserve habitat and wildlife and connect people to the resources of the refuge. The Seney National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1935 for the protection of migratory waterfowl. Its diverse habitat provides refuge and breeding grounds for over 200 bird species 50 mammal species 26 fish species 22 reptile and amphibian species.
