North Providence Animal Welfare Society Together we can BE A VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS Our History Our History Our History NPAWS was born in 2020 out of concern for the wellbeing of animals housed at the North Providence Animal Shelter. The building was over 50 years old out of compliance with sheltering standards and well beyond repair. One of our primary goals was to hold town officials accountable to their promise of building a new adequate facility and we are proud to say they did. The new Tritown shelter opened in 2023.
