Joseph Kyle Martinez earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy from Texas Woman’s University this past weekend. 🎓 Before enrolling at TWU, Martinez served five years in the United States Navy as a sonar technician aboard the USS Wyoming SSBN 742. He often used his musical talent to perform at official military events and ceremonies. He began his studies at TWU as a nursing major but shifted to music therapy after discovering its ability to support healing through music. Throughout his time at the university, Martinez was deeply involved in campus life and represented TWU in multiple musical ensembles, playing the harp and piano. He performed in Chamber Singers, the Mariachi ensemble, Wind Symphony, and the Chamber Orchestra and toured with the choir to Puerto Rico. In 2024, he became the official harpist for the First Baptist Dallas Orchestra. After graduation, Martinez wants to work as a hospice music therapist, bringing comfort to others during life’s most vulnerable moments.
