🍀👣 Celtic supporter Mark Ramsay is walking 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ miles from Letterkenny to the Brother Walfrid Statue in Ballymote this September with friend Santiago Selaro, supporting the Foundation and honouring Walfrid’s legacy! Explaining their motivation for this unique challenge, Mark said: “My good friend Santiago and I, who is a member of the Argentina CSC, will be walking from Market Square, Letterkenny to the Brother Walfrid Statue in Ballymote this September. “Brother Walfrid is the reason we have a football club to support and the opportunity to pay tribute to someone of his significance in the club’s history, coupled with the charitable aspect makes this challenge both exciting and worthwhile. “My ancestry is from County Donegal and there is a huge Celtic following in that part of Ireland. There are also a lot of fans here in Scotland with strong Donegal connections, so Letterkenny seemed the perfect place to start. ‘The challenge itself will be a five-day, 100-mile walk, and we’ll be walking to Walfrid via Ballybofey, Donegal Town, Bundoran and Sligo Town.’ “Santiago and I are both avid Celtic supporters. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 30 years and Santiago caught the Celtic bug all the way from Buenos Aires and now lives in Barcelona, where he regularly watches the Bhoys. “He’s even got his own local seven-a-side team in Barcelona wearing the famous green and white Hoops! “We’d often talked about doing a Celtic-orientated challenge to raise money for the Foundation, so we’re delighted to finally be doing so. This challenge makes us feel like we are honouring the Club’s history and its purpose. “The club was set up by Brother Walfrid, not just as a football club, but to help the poor and needy in our society. Sadly, that need still exists today. “We know about the fantastic work that Celtic FC Foundation do here in Scotland, Ireland and in various other locations, so Santiago and I are thrilled to play a small part in helping the Foundation to continue with such endeavours. “I’ve followed the work of the Foundation for a number of years, and it’s something we are passionate about. In the past I’ve helped with Bucket Collections on match days and other events such as the Santa Stroll. “It’s a fantastic organisation. We hope to raise as much as possible to help others but also to encourage others to get involved, as well as raise awareness of the great work of the Foundation.” We would like to thank Mark and Santiago for their immense commitment, dedication and support of Celtic FC Foundation through their challenge.
