Did you know? 💡 HCDNNJ member organizations built 4,730 new homes and made a $2.45 BILLION economic impact! This work highlights a significant resource for the community development sector: the NJ Affordable Housing Trust Fund. As stated in the impact report, "...the Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF) has been one of the main forces behind new affordable home development across New Jersey, providing hundreds of millions of dollars since the start of 2020 — $18 million of which is represented here — and has proved to be a vital resource for municipalities to provide the housing they need." NEWS RELEASE 🗞️ NJ Housing Advocate Condemns Federal Spending Cuts as ‘Cruel and Immoral’ Following a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to approve a sweeping spending bill with massive cuts to programs that support the social safety net, Housing and Community Development Network of NJ President and CEO Staci Berger issued the following statement: “A strong majority of New Jerseyans are concerned about housing affordability. Instead of standing up for them, three of our state's Congressional representatives voted to dismantle the programs that help our lowest income residents. Cutting life-saving programs like Medicaid and nutritional food assistance to benefit the extremely wealthiest Americans is a threat to public health and safety. These are programs that have helped reduced the trade-off between paying rent and buying groceries or visiting the doctor. We urge our U.S. Senators to stand up for everyone who is struggling to put food on the table or pay their medical bills, to reject this cruel and immoral proposal, and to work with their colleagues to defeat it.” https://www.hcdnnj.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1841%3Anj-housing-advocate-condemns-federal-spending-cuts-as--cruel-and-immoral-&Itemid=147 (fb)
