Supervision - International Credit Union Regulators' Network ICURNCredit Union Supervision Principles These 23 guiding principles are recommended byICURNas a framework for assessing the effectiveness of the supervisor of credit unions where the supervisor has statutory responsibility for their safety and soundness. ICURN also hopes that these principles will provide helpful guidance for credit union supervisors in jurisdictions where their powers are based on a system of selfregulation or other nonstatutory arrangement. Theprinciples for credit union governance and supervision have been formulated by ICURN and are recommendedas a guidance forsupervisors. They addressthe unique characteristics that distinguish credit unions from other types of deposittakers.
