Established in 1986, NCHC began as a response to increasing healthcare needs in Newark and surrounding areas. Over the years, the organization has expanded its operations to better serve the community, ensuring that no patient is denied service due to inability to pay.

Services Offered

NCHC provides a wide range of medical and dental services, including:

• Adult Medicine Program: Includes physicals, pre-employment examinations, screenings for high blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol, treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, and adult immunizations.
• Women's Health Program: Offers obstetrics and gynecology services.
• Pediatric Program: Provides newborn care, physicals, immunizations, lead screening, asthma management, and family education.
• Dental Program: Includes preventive dental care, dental screenings, sealants, fillings, and specialized dental services for pediatric and geriatric patients.
• Behavioral Health Program: Offers mental health support and counseling services.

Additionally, NCHC provides optometry services, podiatry, and ear, nose, and throat care. Other ancillary services include social work support, HIV testing, nutritional counseling, and referrals for substance abuse counseling.

Facilities and Renovations

NCHC operates multiple health centers across Newark, East Orange, Irvington, and Orange. In recent years, NCHC has significantly expanded its headquarters and medical complex in the North Ward of Newark. This project included a major renovation that increased the facility's capacity, enhancing the availability of healthcare services such as obstetrics/gynecology and dental care.
