🎓✨ Celebrating Our 2025 SpeakFirst Seniors! ✨🎓 Last Friday, we came together for our annual Senior Send-Off—a powerful celebration of growth, grit, and the bright futures ahead for our graduating debaters. This extraordinary class of eight seniors earned a combined 68 college acceptances across 48 institutions and secured more than $2.5 million in scholarships, including 12 full-ride offers! Our graduates are headed to incredible schools across the country, including: 🏛️ Emory University (Bethany Horn, full-ride) 📚 Alfred University (Payton Moorer, full-ride) 🎨 Pratt Community College (McKalyn Matthews) 🏛️ Howard University (Antoria Gray) 🔬 Northeastern University (BreNyah Ballard, with scholarship) 🎓 University of Montevallo (Morghan Hamilton, with scholarship) 🐾 Tuskegee University (Tyra Davis, with scholarship) 🎤 Lawson State University — (Jakeria “Kai” Clopton, with scholarship) A special congratulations to Tyra Davis and Kai Clopton, who have been part of SpeakFirst for three and four years, respectively, and were honored with MacBooks, generously gifted by board member Jim Kennemer. Each year, Jim celebrates the dedication of students who’ve served on the team for three or more years with this meaningful gift—in recognition of their success and in celebration of the next chapter: college. On April 25, we said goodbye far too soon to our AmeriCorps members in Alabama and South Carolina after the federal agency overseeing AmeriCorps programs enacted sweeping and immediate funding cuts that impacted more than 1,000 programs nationwide. Our members didn’t get to finish their service, but the work they accomplished—the children they screened, the families they served, the lives they touched—is real, lasting, and deeply felt. To our AmeriCorps members: We are so proud of you. You gave your full hearts to the work, and your impact is written into the story of this year. You will always be part of the Impact America family. To our community: While this change has affected how we operate, it has not changed why we serve.
